The objective of this study was to determine the risk factors associated with psychomotor delay in children treated at a public hospital in Chancay-Lima in 2025. Therefore, a quantitative, basic-level, non-experimental design methodology was used, involving 120 mothers with children diagnosed with psychomotor development delay. The results revealed that most of the mothers were between the ages of 20 and 34 (55.8%), 67% had primary and/or secondary education, 47.5% of the mothers were cohabiting, 73.3% were self-employed, and a smaller percentage of 7.5% of mothers used drugs, alcohol, and/or cigarettes during their pregnancy. In terms of economic factors, most had a family income below the basic wage (44.2%). Considering pre-, post-, and perinatal factors, most mothers suffered from urinary tract infections (11.7%), threatened miscarriage (10.8%), depression and anxiety (10.8%); at the time of delivery, 14.2% had fetal distress, and after delivery, the children presented with trauma (15%), hyperbilirubinemia (14.2%), cardiomyopathies (10%), anemia (9.2%), among other complications. It is concluded that sociodemographic, pre-, peri-, and postnatal factors affect the psychomotor development of children.
